Spring StoryTime

Registration for the Spring storytime sessions is now taking place. This may be done in person or by phone. Sessions are as follows:

Tues. 10:30 am 2 1/2- 3 1/2

Tues. 1:30 pm 3/1/2-5

Thurs. 10:30 am 3 1/2-5

Toddler Time

This program is for children 18 months- 2 1/2 with a caregiver. Sessions will take place every other Wednesday at 11:00 am, for a half hour. Registtration is required and space is limited.

Magic Show & Club Party

The Summer Reading Club Party will take place on Tues, August 18th, at 1:30 PM.
A performance from master magician Mark Zacharia will take place on the porch of the main floor of the library. Refreshments will be served. For those children who completed the Summer Reading Program, certificates and a final prize will be distributed. The last day to log any books in is Fri., Aug. 14th.
All are welcome to attend the "You Will Believe in Magic" show. For further information please call the children's department.

"Mammal-Mania"

"Mammal-Mania"has come to the Hillsdale Library! See exotic and rare animals on Tues. Aug. 4th, at 2:00 PM. No registration is necessary, but come early as space is limited. The program is presented by Eyes Wild. For further information call the children's department. All are welcome.

Puppet Show

Come and see the magic of puppets as the fairy-tale Rumpelstiltkin is performed. The show is Monday, July 27th, at 4:00 PM. Suggested for grades 1 and up. Summer Reading Club!!!

Don't Wait...It's Not to Late...There's still time to sign-up for the summer reading club program. Children ages 2 through 6th grade can still join, read books and receive coupons and prizes. The program runs through Friday, Aug. 14th. All are welcome to come to the reading club party on Tues. Aug. 18th, 1:30 pm featuring magician Mark Zacharia. Summer Reading Club signup for children 18 months through entering 6th grade will begin on Thursday, June 25th!!

Musical Performance

Celebrate National Library Week with a musical performance from Kurt Gallagher. Known for his fun, wacky, and silly musical performances, Kurt will be appearing at the Hillsdale Free Public Library on Thursday, April 16, at 1:30 p.m. No registration is necessary, but space is limited so arrive early. Dr. Seuss Story Time

The Pascack Valley chapter of the International Thespian Society will be holding a Dr. Seuss Story Time and Craft on Saturday, February 28, at the Hillsdale Public Library from 11 to 11:45 am for all children ages 3-6.Space is limited to twenty-five children. Balloon Stories

Storytelling was presented with sculptured balloon art by Cheryl Anne. All children received a choice of animals, swords, and light sabers to take home.

Wandering Wonders Program

35 children enjoyed a musical adventure featuring the many wonders of the world. Performer, John Fogerty, used a variety of instruments to assist the children in finding the missing wonders.

City Winds Trio Musical Program 7/17/07

On July 17th, approximately 70 children were treated to a musical performance from the City Winds Trio! All children were given the opportunity to try out a violin.

Fairy Tale Mural

Favorite fairy tales and nursery rhymes have come alive at the Hillsdale Public Library!
Hillsdale resident and artist Christine Mugno designed and painted a vast mural over the walls of the story-time room. Using Jack’s Beanstalk as the backdrop for the characters, the walls are adorned with favorites such as Humpty Dumpty, Little Bo Peep, The Old Woman Who lived in a Shoe, and an enchanted Fairy Tale Castle.

The story-time room is a new addition which was included in the Library’s renovation project. Located on the first floor across from the Children’s Department, this room serves as the “land of make believe” several times a week to children who attend story-time.

Christine Mugno is the owner of The Hillsdale Art Studio, and holds a BA in art education and a MA in computer technology education.
