Children's Services

Welcome to the Children's Department of the Hillsdale Library. One of the busiest in the County, the Children's Department provides many exciting services for children and their parents or care givers.

A variety of programs, story times, and Summer Reading Program for pre-schoolers and readers are offered throughout the year. Please check our blog for updates and information.

A wide selection of music CDs and DVDs feature new releases and classic favorites.

One freshly expanded collection is our phonics and easy readers. New sets containing limited vocabulary with high frequency sight words from 10 to 50 words per book help build speed and confidence.

Another popular section is our "orange-ec" collection. What is this? Located at the end of the fiction, "ec" stands for early chapter. These books represent a transition phase from easy readers to fiction. Typically containing no more than 80 pages with few illustrations, these books are the next phase before graduating to longer works of fiction.
